Agate comes in a wide variety of colors and patterns and is most typically associated with volcanic rock formation. It has been recovered at a number of ancient archeological sites, especially in Greece. Agate was most commonly used in hardstone carvings- which refers to objects carved from gemstones. These objects were often highly prized and attributed with special powers or religious significance.
Turritella agate is an extraordinarily unique variety of agate- those swirling brown shapes come from fossilizes snail shells!
This one of a kind, bezel-set sterling silver necklace was made by hand in our Long Beach Island studio. It features a piece of turritella agate, with a series of mountains and stars stamped on the back.
The pendant measures approximately 1.25” x 1” and comes on an 18” sterling chain.
