Color With SwellColors: Part 1
At SwellColors Glass Studio our main medium is glass, but that doesn't mean we don't like to play around with other creative platforms. We've completely hopped on the adult coloring bandwagon!
Coloring may bring back some fun memories from your childhood. But research shows that creating artwork, whether it be a mosaic or bead making class at our Surf City studio, or breaking out a coloring book, is actually good for you. It holds therapeutic qualities, and can help drop anxiety levels and create focus. As CNN reports, engaging in coloring can be almost meditative, giving the ability to “switch off our brains from other thoughts and focus only on the moment.”
SwellColors offers scheduled and drop in classes everyday, but if you can't swing in for a little while, we created this coloring page based off of the May 31 stained glass window from our Primavera series.
The design below, titled "Crush," isn't too intricate. However, you can use the large areas of space to experiment with different shading and embellishments. Create a pattern, or try to replicate real stained glass by layering colors, applying different pressure on your pencils, or even adding marker or gel pens into the mix.
