Coquina Jam - August 26, 2009
SwellColors is a proud sponsor of the first annual all women soul surf contest the Coquina Jam. Organized by our friends at Jetty, the event is sure to make waves and highlight the surf community spirit on Long Beach Island. SwellColors very own, Mary Tantillo, will surf in the competition along side Emma Maschal of Brant Beach. The after party will be held in Bayview Park with delicious nosh provided by Livin' on the Veg and great live music. There is also a live auction of incredible artwork and other awesome goods to support Boarders for Breast Cancer.

On June 27 and 28, 2009 Long Beach Island Artists will host their 4th Annual Open Studio Tour. This is a great chance for the people to see many public and private studios on LBI. Most of the artists give hands on demonstrations and have works available for sale. SwellColors artist Mary Tantillo will participate in the tour and have beadmaking demonstrations all day. Support your local artists.

Glass Fusing – Make Your Own Serving Platter
Create a large platter using recycled glass and copper inclusions. No experience necessary. Students will pick up their finished piece one week after class ends. This is a one day only class.
Time: 10-12 Noon
When: Wednesdays from May through September

Stop by any time during normal business hours and make your own glass beads! AWESOME!! _You will make 3 gorgeous beads_with our hands on guidance using Italian Effetre (Morretti) glass. This is a great opportunity for people who love glass to try lampworking without taking the full three hour class or investing in lots of tools or materials.
Warning: this is so much fun that it is known to be highly addictive. This class is available for people ages 12 and up.
You must wear closed toed shoes and cotton (no synthetic clothing)
Time: Between 10 am and 5 pm daily
When: Any day that we are open which is every day

Green Up, Clean Up Long Beach Island
SwellColors is participating in Long Beach Island Business Alliance's First Annual Green Up Clean Up (GUCU)! Along with local businesses and volunteers from the community, we will be cleaning up the streets of LBI on Saturday, April 25 from 9am - 12pm. Stop by SwellColors for garbage bags and gloves to help you dispose of the trash. SwellColors will also have refreshments and friendly smiles for all the volunteers. Taking the "Clean Up" one step further, we will be giving each volunteer who stops by our gallery wearing the GUCU bracelet a couple sunflower seedlings as a thank you.
If you are in the area, we encourage you to come out and help keep LBI beautiful. Volunteers will receive beaded GUCU bracelets that are good for promotions island-wide and a chance to win 1 of 100 free lunches at Dark Star Cafe.
